How to Apply

  • Complete the application and writing sample electronically (submit form below to Request an Application)
  • Send any transcripts you have earned
  • Return the application before July 1st  (before May 1st for early tuition reduction)

Reference form

  • Send 4 reference forms to the people on the last page of the application.
  • The completed reference forms are sent directly to MI by mail or email

After MI receives the Application and the four References, the applicant will meet with a representative of MI for an interview. The Master’s Institute will initiate the interview at the mutual convenience of applicant and MI representative. (Where distance prohibits an on-site interview, other arrangements may be made.)

If Accepted to MI, a packet is sent to you:

  • Sign and return the Intent to Attend form
  • Sign and return the Disclosure Release form
  • Include the first tuition installment (see tuition policy – 75% refundable)
  • Include your student fees of $200

A background check will be completed after we receive the Disclosure form.

The student must complete the MMPI and Myers Briggs testing before school starts.

You are required to attend the pre-requisite classes the week of Aug 28, 2017 and the Fall Kick-off retreat on Sept 5-6, 2017.

MI Seminary is Open to:

  • College graduates who want to change the world for Christ
  • Second-career leaders who feel called to make a difference for Christ (previous degree may not be necessary)
  • Leaders who want to pastor, plant churches, be missionaries, or vitalize an existing church or organization.

Can I transfer credits?

Credit from other graduate level schools may qualify to be transferred. They are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Do I need a college degree?

Younger students are encouraged to complete their college degree before applying. Second-career people who sense God leading them into some form of ministry and who demonstrate Christian maturity and leadership are welcome to apply with MI whether or not they have a college degree. Equivalencies for life experiences, leadership, and Christian service are considered.

Tuition

Tuition has been approved by the Board of Directors to accomplish a reduction in the student tuition debt.

Payment of the tuition is the responsibility of the MI student

Reducing per credit cost for all students by 5% for 2017-2018 school year

Full-time (Local or distance) (Students taking 28 Seminar Credits/Year + 5 credits Scripture Practicum, Leadership Training and Spiritual Formation)

  • Base Tuition Cost = $8,333/year (based on 100 credits x $250/per credit / for 3 yrs)
  • Full Time Student (local or distance) Deduction = $500
  • Early Registration Deduction (Intent to Attend by August 1) = $500
  • All tuition payments are due upon class registration for each semester, with the option to pay monthly or per semester
  • An initial tuition payment of $1,150 is due by August 15th every year. Remaining tuition of $800/mth is due on the 1st of each month from Sept 1-May 1; OR you can pay your full semester's tuition at the beginning of each semester: $4,175 due Sept 1 for Fall and Jan 1 for Spring.*

*These payment options include $50 additional dollars spent over the course of 3 years, which can be credited back to you or used as a starter donation to MI200 club.

Part-time (Local or distance) (Students taking a minimum of 10 Seminar Credits/Year+ 5 Scripture Practicum Credits/for 3 years and on schedule to be completed with Seminary in a maximum of 6 years)

  • Base Tuition Cost = $250/credit
  • Average Annual Cost = $250 x 100 credits = $25,000 / 6 yrs = $4,166 /year
  • Early Registration Deduction (before May 1) = $250
  • All tuition payments are due upon class registration for each semester, with the option to pay monthly or per semester

Spouse tuition is one half the cost of either Full-time or Part-time program.

All Students will incur these costs in addition to the per credit cost.

  • $200 fee per year due on August 1st which includes admin costs, back ground checks, MMPI costs, technology, and classroom supplies.
  • Cost of Books = $400-$500/Full Time Year Average

There is no extra charge for these programs: Spiritual Formation (including Silent Retreat), Leadership Training, Independent Study Program (ISP) and Fall Retreat.

There is a bank service charge for checks returned for non-sufficient funds.

Refunds for early withdrawl: 75% of tuition paid is refundable up to the first day of class and is available upon written request. The $200 student fees are not refundable.

Late Tuition Policy – Students who are not current with their tuition payments from the previous month will be allowed to file an appeal with the President before returning to class to present mitigating circumstances and request an exemption from the tuition policy. Students may be granted probationary status while paying tuition. See the Probation Policy for further recourse.

Referral Program – Seminary students who refer new students to the MI credentialed M.Div. track will earn 1 credit of tuition off their next semester’s tuition when the referred student is accepted and attends.
