Connie’s Story

Reflecting on my time at MI gave me great joy!

When I began in 2010 as one of the first distance students, I felt immediately affirmed, encouraged, and supported in the Lord’s call on my life that I unknowingly had been seeking most all my life.

I had been serving the Lord in different roles for over 40 years, teaching and leading Bible Study Fellowship, leading women’s ministries, serving on church leadership boards, and even serving alongside pastors assisting in Worship.

I was honored to be in the corporate world working for American Airlines in Passenger Sales for 16 years.  Those years taught me so much about administration and organization as well as genuine caring customer service.

I took an early retirement from American in 2003 and then in 2004 began to work at Grace Lutheran Church in Huntington Beach as Executive Assistant to the Pastors – Dave Housholder and Joe Johnson.  This is where I got the nudge to apply to The Master’s Institute when Pastor Dave Housholder encouraged me, “you should become a Pastor!”  So long story short I became a student at The Master’s Institute Seminary in 2010.

My very first class was in-person with Dr. Cross for Scripture Practicum, and I was filled to overflowing joy and thought, “this is what I have been seeking all my life.”  It was real, genuine and empowering.

My heart has always been for getting others connected to each other in a way that helped them grow into the person God created them to be.  MI was all about this, equipping the heart, head and hands of pastor and leaders.  Spiritual formation classes and mentoring brought my heart to the Lord’s healing of some wounds that I had been ignoring – thank the Lord!

I’ve had the privilege of serving as pastor in 3 wonderful churches.  I am now semi-retired but hope to always continue in a voluntary capacity with ministries that share Christ’s presence, love and care in Oro Valley, AZ and beyond.

I am honored to serve on the newly formed MI Alumni Board to help keep us all connected.

Our theme verse and vision for our 2013 graduating class lives on, “but I am anointed for mission, Praise the Lord.”

Anointed for Mission – Isaiah 61:1
