How to Apply

  • Request an application using the form below or submit an inquiry with further questions.

  • Complete the application. As part of your application, you will be asked to provide a writing sample and four references who can speak to your leadership, discipleship, and character qualities. You will also be directed how to send your previous transcripts to MI electronically.

  • Final date to apply for the upcoming academic year is June 30th. Earlier acceptance allows students to be considered for the Early Commitment discount and available scholarships.

What's Next?

After MI staff review the completed application and references, you will be notified if you are invited to interview in person or online. Further questions and conversation are encouraged during this time.

If accepted to MI, a packet is sent to you:

  • Sign and return the Intent to Attend form

  • Sign and return the Disclosure Release form to allow MI to order a background check

  • Include your Administrative and Technology Fees of $350

Cohorts of students start once a year. Prerequisite courses are offered at the end of August and are in-person only; all students join the fall retreat in person after Labor Day.

Who is MI Seminary Open to?

  • College graduates who want to change the world for Christ

  • Second-career leaders who feel called to make a difference for Christ (previous degree may not be necessary)

  • Leaders who want to pastor, plant churches, be missionaries, or vitalize an existing church or organization.

Can I transfer credits?

Credit from other graduate level schools may qualify to be transferred. They are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Do I need a college degree?

Younger students are encouraged to complete their college degree before applying. Second-career people who sense God leading them into some form of ministry and who demonstrate Christian maturity and leadership are welcome to apply with MI whether or not they have a college degree. Equivalencies for life experiences, leadership, and Christian service are considered.

What are the requirements for full time and part time students?

Full-Time Requirements: A Three-year seminary path

  • Completing 28 or more Seminar Credits/Year

  • Scripture Practicum – Three years: 5 credits/year

  • Leadership Training – Three years: 15 hours/wk

  • Spiritual Formation – Three years: includes mentoring, SF Group and SF curriculum

Part-Time Requirements: A seminary path to be completed in four to six years

  • Completing 14 or more Seminar Credits/Year

  • Scripture Practicum – Three years: 5 credits/yr

  • Leadership Training – Three years: 15 hours/wk

  • Spiritual Formation – Three years: includes mentoring, SF Group and SF curriculum

What is the cost for an MI Seminary degree?

Seminar Tuition and Fees for 2024-2025

  • Base tuition cost: per credit cost for 2024-2025 is $210.

  • Ministry Formation (Leadership Training and Spiritual Formation) and Fall Retreat are included in tuition

  • $350 Administrative and Technology Fee: Due August 1

  • $100 Library Fee: Due September 1

Tuition Discounts:

  • Full-time students receive a $420 tuition discount

  • Early Commitment discount: $210 (must be committed by June 1)

  • Spouses enrolled concurrently receive tuition at 50% of the cost of tuition
     

Are there online options for my education?

Yes! MI offers both online and on campus classes, however there are typically three times per year when students are required to be in person. Our goal is to prepare you to continue the ministry of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit while keeping you engaged with the culture and people in which you will be serving. The Master’s Institute is committed to excellence in all areas of your seminary experience, while working hard to keep seminary affordable for you. As a student at The Master’s Institute you will receive world-class ministry training for a fraction of the cost of seminary elsewhere.

How MI cuts your costs without cutting corners on your ministry preparedness:

  • We are housed in a local congregation - sharing space with a church body that is excited about preparing well-equipped lovers of God to lead

  • Through the generosity of alumni as well as ministry and business partners who believe in the MI Mission to continue the ministry of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit in and through you

  • Whenever possible, MI works with you, the student, to serve in a paid ministry internship while you are in seminary

Seminar Tuition and Fees for 2024-2025

  • Base tuition cost: per credit cost for 2024-2025 is $210.

  • Ministry Formation (Leadership Training and Spiritual Formation) and Fall Retreat are included in tuition

  • $350 Administrative and Technology Fee: Due August 1

Tuition Discounts:

  • Full-time students receive a $420 tuition discount

All Students will incur these costs in addition to the per credit cost.

  • $350 fee per year due on August 1st which includes admin costs, background checks, technology, and classroom supplies.

  • Cost of Books = $400-$500/Full Time Year Average

There is no extra charge for these programs: Spiritual Formation (including Silent Retreat), Leadership Training, Inter-cultural Independent Study Program (ISP) and Fall Retreat.

Refunds for early withdrawl: 75% of tuition paid is refundable up to the first day of class and is available upon written request. The $350 student fees (Admin and Technology) are not refundable.

Late Tuition Policy: Students who are not current with their tuition payments from the previous month will be allowed to file an appeal with the President before returning to class to present mitigating circumstances and request an exemption from the tuition policy. Students may be granted probationary status while paying tuition. See the Probation Policy for further recourse.

Referral Program: Seminary students who refer new students to the MI credentialed M.Div. track will earn 1 credit of tuition off their next semester’s tuition when the referred student is accepted and attends.
