Master of Arts in Christian Leadership

The Master of Arts in Christian Leadership is a two-year program focused on increasing the competency, character, and capacity of Christian leaders to optimize their calling in God’s kingdom. This formative experience takes place in a cohort of five or more students and integrates biblical teaching in master's-level courses, spiritual and character formation, and leadership training and coaching.

The M.A. can be completed in a cohort of students from one local congregation or in an online, non-centralized cohort with other individuals from various contexts and ministries.

Program Highlights:

  • Recorded seminars in core theology and church history, biblical exegesis and hermeneutics, and pastoral formation

  • Live online academic discussions with your cohort and academic pastor

  • Spiritual formation groups facilitated by a spiritual director and one-on-one mentoring

  • Ministry experience in a personalized internship

  • Start in January or September

Tuition:

Cost for this program is $7,500 per participant, which includes enrollment fees due at the beginning of the program.

Program Details:

This program is designed to be intentional and accessible. Each month includes:

  • Video lectures, assigned readings, and written assignments completed on your own time

  • Weekly 60 to 90 minute online sessions for spiritual formation or academic discussion

  • 10-hour/week internship in your leadership context

  • Weekly one-on-one coaching and mentoring

Are the M.A. credits transferable to an M.Div.?

If you are considering pursuing a full Master of Divinity degree at MI, we recommend applying to the Master of Divinity program. However, if at the end of your M.A. you feel called to jump into seminary, your credits may be transferred into the Master of Divinity program at MI on a case-by-case basis.
