Eric McIntyre
Heart and Theology of Worship
Eric McIntyre serves as Director of Spiritual and Character Formation at The Master's Institute. He graduated from Concordia College with Music and Religion degrees and from MI with an MDiv. Eric spent a combined 35 years as Director of Worship at Hope Lutheran Church (Fargo, ND) and Redeemer Lutheran Church (Fridley, MN) where, in both settings, he steered the traditional and modern worship experiences. With the contemporary church in constant worship renewal, Eric finds himself a perpetual student of that renewal. In earlier years, he conducted workshops on introducing style changes to traditional-oriented congregations. His later focus in congregational ministry was on mentoring younger worship leaders.
Eric and his wife, Kris, have two sons, a daughter (engaged), a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter! Eric enjoys time with his family, accompanying for high school music performances and plays, and playing in area worship bands as needed.
About the course “A Heart and Theology of Worship,” Eric comments, “It’s easy and natural to discuss the history of Biblical worship and the how-to’s of leading it in our ministry settings. We do that in this course, but we also focus on our personal views on worship and the nature of God. Out of a deeper and wider understanding of ourselves on these matters comes a healthier perspective on leading others in experiencing God’s presence.”
